At Healthy Life Chiropractic, we believe a healthy spine is the foundation for a healthy life, and that is true for your whole family, including your kids! You might think that chiropractic care isn’t needed unless you’re suffering from back pain, but starting your kids with preventative care early in life will set them up for a lifetime of health and well-being!
Your Child’s Nervous System
The brain, spinal cord, and nerves make up the nervous system. it controls everything in the body, and that includes growth and development. Misalignments in the spine, also known as subluxations, can inhibit communication between the brain and the body. Those subluxations put undue stress on the nervous system. which can lead to a decrease in function of the affected areas.
No matter what stage of life a person is in, he or she can experience subluxations of the spine. Infants can become subluxated from trauma experienced during birth and children can experience them from either minor or major traumas or due to developmental stress. During a child’s first five years of life, the body creates more neural pathways that at any other time. The first few years are crucial to a child’s growth and development, and chiropractic care can help optimize this production.
Even if your child is in great health, minor traumas from bruises, bumps, and falls will accumulate over time and can result in discomfort, pain, and/or health issues in their teen and adult years.
The Adjustment
Chiropractic adjustments are safe for patients of all ages, even newborns. After we complete an assessment of your child’s spine, our trained chiropractic team will perform a gentle adjustment either using a small tool or his or her hands. The adjustment, along with the use of additional chiropractic therapies, will remove the subluxations of the spine.
